As a mountain professional, I have a good number of Montane products and have generally been really happy with the fit - particularly mountaineering legwear (several pairs of Terra pants; Tenacity XT; Terra XT; Terra Mission). The fit is helped by having a good range of sizes and generally offering three leg length options .
These Nordes are a good product but only suitable if youâre looking for a very loose fitting ski trousers. They are certainly not 'Close fitting' - better described as ' baggy' - even in the smallest option available (30â waist).
For me, the leg length was too long and when tried on with mountaineering or telemark ski touring boots, the baggy look and feel was exaggerated by pushing up the material when resting on the boots (ankle zips, etc means they obviously canât be shortened aftersale). Without a short length option had to return them. (My partner had the same problem with the womenâs version).
Using the Terra Mission pants (now the Tenacity XT) for a couple of days ski touring just about worked, and certainly a better option personally than the Nordes would have been.
Offer a couple of leg length versions of the Nordes, and perhaps a closer fit and theyâre a winner.
